| ABSTRACT | ||||
Oral dispersible films (ODFs) are flexible drug delivery systems made on both large and small scales. Despite formulation challenges, global research focuses on expanding their use for diverse APIs. Patient-centric strategies emphasize personalization, taste masking, easy administration, and better compliance. Future progress depends on novel excipients that can improve the delivery of complex molecules like proteins and oligonucleotides. Rheumatoid Arthiritis doesn’t change the solvent casting process itself, but it shapes the formulation goals. ODFs are preferred for RA patients because they’re easier to administer when swallowing or hand mobility is difficult. Solvent casting allows precise dosing, taste masking, and improved solubility of COX-2 inhibitors, making therapy more patient-friendly. Stability and ease of handling are also prioritized to suit long-term RA treatment needs. Selective COX-2 inhibitors (coxibs) are a class of NSAIDs designed to reduce inflammation and pain by selectively blocking the COX-2 enzyme, while sparing COX-1, which protects the stomach lining. They are effective for arthritis and pain management but carry cardiovascular risks. |
